Background

After several years of tuition under Gregory R. Smith, Lyn has learnt the benefits of traditional tonal study which she applies to both her still life and landscape paintings.  Over the years she has adapted a more impressionist style in her work.  Lyn believes in always painting from life, never relying on the use of photographs for reference.

Lyn continues to expand her expertise as an artist by often attending workshops and demonstrations by prominent artists such as Herman Pekel, David Chen, Ross Paterson, Colley Whisson and Amanda Hyatt to name just a few.

Lyn is currently a member of the Geelong Arts Society and a life member of the Macedon Ranges Art Group.

Commissions

Lyn welcomes commission work.  If you see a painting from the ‘Sold’ section that appeals to you,  and would like a similar painting, please contact her to discuss the possibilities.  She is also happy to create a ceramic piece or silk scarf tailored made to your specific taste in design and colours.

Item, subject, size, medium and price range can all be discussed with Lyn to produce the perfect artwork for your home or perhaps a special gift for a friend.

Exhibitions

Lyn has been painting for over 30 years and has participated in numerous group exhibitions in the Melbourne area (Victorian Artists Society), Williamstown, Geelong and the Macedon Ranges.

She has held three solo exhibitions in Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff, and also exhibited with the Bellarine Arts Trail in November 2017.

Lyn Ellis

For over 20 years, Lyn lived in the Macedon Ranges area and then in recent years relocated to Point Lonsdale on the Bellarine Peninsula.  Both locations have provided Lyn with an endless source of inspiration often painting outdoors to capture the natural light of her beautiful surroundings.
